Not a youth anymore

The vibrant era of youth has passed, and I slowly realize that my past does not align with who I am. Many people have privately asked me why I have spent so much money on so many domains and hosting without persisting. I believe that it no longer fits the vibrant era, and there is no need for it anymore.
Work begins the moment you open your eyes, rushing until after ten at night, exhausted in body and mind, returning to the dormitory, and collapsing directly onto the bed, doing nothing. Just like a contestant in a debate I watched before said, why drink alcohol? The day does not belong to you; at night, you can only squeeze out a little time to satisfy your needs, numbing yourself with alcohol, because when you open your eyes, this world no longer belongs to you, and you have to continue working.
Today's salary can no longer meet your consumption; everywhere there are traps for spending, whether in life or work, this binds you.
Do not forget your original intention, which is just the original intention of youth.
I remember first encountering the internet between 2000 and 2001; it was a long time ago, and back then, internet cafes charged 0.5 yuan per hour.
At that time, home dial-up internet was promoted, and websites like 21st Century, Sina, and Tom were frequently visited, especially Tianjiao Road, which mainly provided study materials;
QQ had to be purchased at internet cafes for 1-3 yuan, and you could get 5 to 6 digits, but later on, QQ accounts were frequently hacked, and I basically lost mine, leaving only two 6-digit accounts (which I paid 300 yuan to keep, and later spent 500 yuan on a U shield, like a small USB drive displaying a string of numbers). I registered for a TOM email with a 10MB capacity (which has now been closed).
Online movies were still free back then, and you could watch them freely.
After Google entered China, the entire internet underwent a huge change; QQ continued to improve, online storage, email capacity increased to gigabytes, and free website building (Googlepages.com seems to still be usable abroad). I remember buying a 1.4MB floppy disk to store data for online storage and email.
Of course, the subsequent battles over online storage, email, and the competition between 360 and QQ, as well as free antivirus software, all happened after the internet entered the public's view. Alibaba's sales were like a yellow pages directory, slowly evolving into 8848 and Taobao, and later Dangdang and JD gradually came into view; these are all later stories.
Around 2008, my first batch of domains and hosting (virtual space) was with Sichuan Volcano Internet (still operating, but I don't know the current situation) and a company in Guangxi, which ran off with my money and became unreachable.
There was a break in between due to the national mandatory filing; during this period, many people gave up, and I also gave up at that time. Later, I purchased a 10G virtual space from Sichuan Volcano Internet to store data, and my Baidu ranking was also high.
In 2011, there was a huge change in my work, and I gave up virtual space, including blogs, etc.
From 2017 to 2021, there were no major changes; I mainly focused on protecting domains, purchasing .com, .cn, .net around a single domain.
From 2022 to now, the debts in work and family have increased, especially with constantly changing jobs, leaving me with no energy or funds to invest in the internet, so I reduced the number of domains to under 50, and gradually started using cheaper, smaller hosting. I kept the domains and hosting within a controllable range each year, and had to give up many good domains; now the entire domain trading market is relatively sluggish. I closed the renewals for Baidu Cloud, Alibaba Cloud, and other online storage services, and also for mobile backup clouds (Huawei, Xiaomi, iqoo), using only basic cloud storage. I also closed my WPS and Kingsoft memberships. My phone cards have been reduced from over ten to two (one with 100G data, one with 1000 minutes), controlling consumption within 100 yuan, and I also closed the SMS forwarding website.
I am no longer a youth; I do not forget my original intention, only retaining the most basic, which is also a hobby; life is not easy. In middle age, waking up early and working hard is for survival, no longer a pursuit.
With a monthly salary of three to four thousand, I no longer have the qualifications to ride the waves on the internet, quietly watching the young chase the waves from the shore...
Here, I won't mention some details, nor do I remember them, and there is no need to mention them.
I'll stop writing here, commemorating the establishment of mygoodcool.googlepages.com on Google and publishing the first article, marking the 20th anniversary.

Never forget the original intention of youth!#
