Close some websites, keeping only the basic ones. Optimize website building costs, and share my thoughts. First, let me talk about my expenses and ideas for building websites:
1. Close image and message-based websites.
2. Retain at least category websites and product promotion websites.
3. Website construction: No longer build on a large scale, keep 5 sites: one knowledge site, one pastry site, one diary site, one product promotion site, and one news site.
4. No longer purchase domain names; from the original 500+ domains, clear some and control it to below 100 domains, gradually reducing to below 50, abandoning all remaining (it's hard to buy now, and the development trend shows it's difficult to rise again; currently, good domains are controlled by capital, and only some niche suffix domains are still actively traded).
5. Retain two paid hosts, use free hosts for all others.
5-1 Currently, there are two hosts:
One: Alibaba Cloud renewal costs 300-400 yuan; the first year was 66 yuan, and I didn't purchase the 99 yuan/year host. I will change it when it expires, but I'm not sure if the renewal is at this 99 yuan price. I still feel Tencent Cloud is cheaper; Tencent Cloud has promotions, with some products at 10-30% off, which feels good, but I've already registered with Alibaba Cloud, so I'm worried about the hassle.
One: Old Xue host - Hong Kong server, 4 sites are hosted here, it's comfortable to use, no need to think about upgrades, but sometimes access is particularly slow, with traffic limits; however, the traffic is very poor, and I hardly use it up. The speed difference compared to the previously purchased Yuyun is significant; Yuyun can open the website in about 0.5s, while Old Xue host takes 3-5s. However, Yuyun's price is where it is; for the same configuration, Yuyun costs around 200-300 yuan, while Old Xue costs 100-200 yuan, and Old Xue host has many promotions and discounts. I bought it for 138 yuan for 2 years during a promotion; if you don't buy early, it gets expensive.
5-2 Free host
The free host is mainly at www.serv00.com; I haven't found other good free spaces yet. www.serv00.com has a capacity of 3G and can bind domain names, with no limit on the number of domains.
Another one is Rainbow Cloud, which was registered early and seems to expire around 2030.
The mouse nest and 87hots from back then no longer have free space; I haven't found any free space now.
5-3 Host control panel
urlos.com was also the first control panel I purchased (the price was less than 200 yuan at that time), but it's quite niche; had I known, I would have bought 1panel instead, as the prices were similar, but I bought urlos.com.
The commonly used ones are Baota and 1panel; the free versions can meet daily needs, and both are easy to use and highly operable.
5-4 Common website building systems WordPress and zblog
Theme prices: 799+100+599+168+138=1804+500=2304 yuan. Now let's analyze the results and usage:
I've used others, but they weren't user-friendly, such as: php168 (now Qibo), phpcms, and another PHP that looked like a forum, I forgot the name.
I spent 500 yuan on a theme for php168, mainly imitating another dimension.
WordPress: Many themes and plugins, with many free options that can meet daily needs; I purchased three themes.
zblog: Compact, occupies less space, but relatively fewer plugins and themes; to get better themes and plugins, purchases are required, with varying prices. Of course, the higher the fee, the more perfect the website. I spent 168+138 on two themes.
Regardless of the theme, I later regretted it; it wasn't necessary to buy, as WordPress can achieve the same, and it's better than zblog. If you buy, just get one or two; don't buy too many that you won't use. You only need to build one or three or four websites; if you buy too many themes, you'll only use the ones you bought, which is a waste, and it makes you feel unbalanced and very frustrated.
5-5 Cost statistics
1804 theme costs + 500/year Alibaba Cloud + 138 yuan/year Old Xue host + 200 urlos control panel + 500 yuan php168
Now I deeply regret it; I suggest beginners and those who are not financially well-off not to blindly purchase themes and play with website building. If you really want to, especially if you want it badly, just buy a cheap host and then buy one theme; don't buy too many. You can first use cracked versions; there are many cracked versions of WordPress, but I haven't found any for zblog. You can buy one, just one.
